Criterion Chairman Speaks on 700 MHz Issues at Wireless Communications Association Conference
June 14, 2007
Criterion Chairman Jeffrey Eisenach spoke at the Wireless Communications Association Conference on June 14 in a panel titled "FCC Auction Rules & Business Outlook: 700 MHz Issues & Answers Summit." The 700 MHz Band spectrum is currently occupied by television broadcasters during the digital television (DTV) transition and will be made fully available for wireless services, including public safety and commercial services, when the DTV transition is completed on February 17, 2009. Eisenach, along with other members of Criterion, recently published a report analyzing alternative approaches to improving public safety and finding flaws with the Cyren Call proposal for more spectrum from the 700 MHz Band for public safety. That paper can be downloaded here.
The panel was moderated by James W. Olsen, Consultant, Former FCC Competition Division Chief and Former Vice President, Law & General Counsel, USTelecom. Other panelists included Peter Pitsch, Director, Public Policy, Intel Corp. and Kathryn A. Zachem, Partner, Wilkinson Barker Knauer. The conference was held at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C. from June 12-15 with Eisenach’s panel from 10-11 am on the 14th in the Congressional A&B. |
