Alina Liao brings a background in industrial organization, market design theory, and health economics to Criterion. She conducts economic and market research, performs data analysis, and provides support to the firm’s economists.

Representative projects have concerned:

  • An economic analysis of the “net neutrality” debate for a telecommunications firm
  • Analysis of market conditions and damage models for a class action price fixing case
  • Market research for an international commercial arbitration concerning a heavy equipment manufacturer
  • An economic analysis of materiality in response to a Wells letter from the Securities and Exchange Commission in an investigation of alleged insider trading by the CEO of a Fortune 500 corporation in violation of Rule 10b-5

Ms. Liao’s research has focused on urban economic development and high-growth industries, which she conducted for the Louisville Metro Chamber of Commerce. She has experience creating and compiling survey data for economic modeling. Ms. Liao also possesses a background in media relations and has experience pitching business plans and developing media strategies for high-technology start ups.

Ms. Liao is a nationally-ranked gymnast who served as captain of Yale’s varsity gymnastics team. At Yale, she studied economics and English, with a concentration in African-American poetry. Ms. Liao is originally from Saratoga, California, and graduated as valedictorian from Saratoga High School.
